Porker.....

Yall..I need some serious serious ideas. This constant weight gain I am having is getting out.of.control. The only thing I can do without any work or effort is gaining weight. I swear if I think about something sweet, or candy or pasta or something greasy my stomach grows. And wait a second. Be really really quiet. Do you hear that??? Do you???? Don't worry, the sound you heard was my thighs growing and rubbing together SIMPLY by writing a post regarding food. *sigh*

Anyway- here is the deal. Yall, my husband has even bribed me with a TRIP once I get to MYYYY (not his) but MY goal weight. (I want to make that clear). Once the profession situation is back on its feed in regards to my husbands job- he has said he will make a way to take us on a getaway to celebrate my weight loss. He told me it could be anywhere. Granted I will say I'm very grounded and realistic so I won't take advantage of his diction of "anywhere"- BUT I am thinking it might be a beach NOT in the US or Mexico :)

SO WHAT IN THE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME??????????? Why doesn't anything motivate me to lose weight? I hate working out. I really do. No idea why, I just can't stand it. But I know it goes hand in hand with weight loss, right???

I have heard success after success after success story about Weight Watchers, but I have also heard that going to the meetings for meal ideas and accountability is a very important part of that program, and right now- there just isn't an extra $30 a month we can spend for me to go on those meetings. Is it possible for me to still do WW and be successful even if I can't go to the meetings? Is there anyone willing to tutor me and hold my hand a bit to help me get started??

Part of my big problem also, is that I want to see immediate results. Once I see that I have lost a pound or two, I am 110% more motivated to keep going. But I never see that 1 or 2 lbs come off. It is SO FRUSTRATING.

None of my "old" clothes fit anymore and I was FORCED to go out and buy new clothes in sizes that I have NEVER purchased in my life before. Seriously....it broke my heart.

So much of my weight gain contributes to my saddened state as well. I'm not happy with the way I look and I want to snap my fingers and wiggle my nose and it be gone change it.

Can you guys please please help a sister out? What worked for you? How do I do this?? Yall we eat grilled chicken or pork all the time, fresh vegetable and maybe brown rice. I only keep fruit in the house now for sweets...nothing else. We don't eat many chips...but I do love diet coke.

I'm rambling here, but please- do you have ideas??? (and who ever has an idea that works, might just get to be packed in my suitcase for the celebratory trip!)

Thanks in Advance :)

You, my dear, are NOT a porker!!! But, I do know what you mean. I wiegh more than I ever have and it makes me sad. I hate working out, too. I really see a difference in my weight when I just stay active...not really working out. Plus, I got all my portions in half and if I do that then I lose a few pounds pretty quickly.

I'll be cheerin' you on all the way!!!

Hey Amy...I just recently started WW. It's $5 a week online now, but I'd be more than willing to help you figure out your points and how to calculate it without having to spend the money on the program.

Just email me at undomesticatednewlywed@yahoo.com if your interested.

And regardless of how much weight you said you've gain...I think you're beautiful no matter what.

I've got all the stuff from Weight Watchers . . . my mom gave it to me a while back and clearly I never used it. You are more than welcome to take a look at it to see if its a fit for your lifestyle (haha no pun intended!).

I did weight watchers in college and lost 20 pounds which was more than my goal. I tried it again a while back, but tried the online. I couldn't keep myself motivated that way. I suggest coaxing a super close friend into doing it w/ you, meeting or not you'll have a partner. I'd be happy to help however I can, but I really would suggest someone, even hubby, who can go through the day to day stuff.
I also recommend the eat this not that books, it gives you good substitutes that really don't feel like you're scrimping or missing out on the things you love.

But I mean it about helping however I can!

The one thing I have found that helps me out is being held accountable...it sucks when you have to tell someone bad stuff right?

I've done weight watchers and I went about it the wrong way. I figure out how much crap I could eat each day instead of filling up on healthier options.

What works for me now is journaling. I keep track of what I eat, when, how much and what I'm feeling (hungry, bored, stressed etc). I want my food journal to look good so I'm going to eat better foods LOL Also, my mom is losing weight and in the last almost year she's lost almost 100 lbs. She's almost at my weight at I don't want my mom to be in better shape than me!

Find someone to hold you accountable. Blog friend, real friend, a journal...something! Good luck. Let me know if I can help you out at all!

Hey Amers, it's James first of all you are entirely to hard on yourself and don't give yourself credit. You need to take this in steps and not look at the whole picture. Take it one day at a time and then one week at a time. Weight watchers does work but you MUST make it a way of life. Hannes has a cousin who lost 80 or 90lbs. with it and looks great. She now is an avid rock climber and dancer. It has done wonders for her but she has made it her way of living. Also don't weigh yourself every day because this will only discourage you. Allow yourself one weigh in per week on the exact same day every week. Start off with 2 weeks of exercise and diet and see how that goes. If you feel like you didn't do enough step it up a little. I also noticed that I had to incorporate exercise into my daily routine. If I don't do it that way I won't ever do it. You must stay positive and promise yourself to stick with it for at a month. After that month you need to evaluate yourself...1- how do you feel physically..2-how do your clothes fit..3-has your energy level improved. These are some things that have worked for me. Also when I joined the gym..I joined an all women's gym and when I don't make it for some reason they are asking "Where were you?" so that is somewhat of them holding me accountable. Let me know if you need motivation. Oh and set you a small goal to start even if it's 5 lbs. Then go from there.

I challenge you to start Monday and exercise 3 days next week for 45 minutes per day!!!!!!

Ok, this post TOTALLY stuck a cord with me. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I hate it. I can't wear half the clothes in my closet and my chin is dragging on the floor. Nothing motivates me. Every few years I join a gym thinking i'll go everyday and I go maybe once a year til my hubs tells me to quit wasting money and cancel the membership. I just don't know what to do. I need to get serious but it's so much easier to eat. Weight watchers has worked for me in the past and I have all the books and stuff but I still wanna eat all the time. I don't know why. Let me know when you figure it out!

I just happened on your blog this morning. I totally feel your pain. I began WW online about 5 weeks ago and I am down over ten pounds. I really like the online method because I can keep myself accountable anywhere-I travel weekly for work. Also there are great recipes on there that help you find low points that taste good. I kind of view the whole thing as a game figuring out what I can eat to stay in my points but not starve and not be deprieved. I think it has given me good perspective on what is just not worth it. I love to eat, but once you realize how bad some things are for you they really just don't seem that good anymore. If you do it we could link up and motivate each other. I think we are in very similar stages of life!
Good Luck!

It's all about portion size and fitting some sort of exercise in. If you haven't come across it yet, I highly recommend Jillian Michaels' 30 day Shred - it's the best!
You can also use fitday.com to track your caloric intake and deficits.

Amy, you're gorgeous!!

Here's onme thing I learned and had to learn it the hard way. No matter how many meetings you go to, how many calories you count or how many miles you run, losing weight is also a mind game. You have to want it for yourself. There shouldn't be a prize in the end (like a trip ;)), the only prize is that you're finally happy with yourself. But in the beginning, you have to like who you are too. It took me a LONG time to get there, then I woke up one morning and said "OMG I hate how my body looks.... but I love myself. Why am I doing this...??" THen I started my mission.

You can do it Amy. We're all here for you 1000000%. Let me know if you want to talk or need any advice....

♥♥ Chrissy

I feel your pain and I share your wedding date! My weight gain began w/ wedding planning. I'm an emotional eater and wedding planning sent me over the edge. I'm miserable and have bought transition clothes from Goodwill b/c I hope to not be this size for long. I went to WW and it felt very materialistic to me. They want my money, not for me to lose weight. I finally joined TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly). There's probably a chapter near your house. Look on their website. THe members are much older than WW, but it's a non profit support group and I mainly need someone besides myself to see my weight. For me, it works!
